Powdered graphite allows me to combine my love of sculpture and painting. It’s a medium which I incorporate into my paintings. After sculpting the surface of my canvas with modelling paste, I came to an impasse with paint alone. After building the surface up with texture, found objects from nature, and various fabrics, I used the graphite to transform and illuminate these compositions.
